                   A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
                   EXECUTE AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE
                   U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
                   DEVELOPMENT (HUD) FOR AN EMERGENCY SHELTER
                   GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND
                   AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($55,000.00) TO PROVIDE
                   FOR THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF
                   SHELTERS AS AUTHORIZED BY THE STEWART B.
                   McKINNEY HOMELESS ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1987 AND
                   THE AMENDMENTS THERETO OF 1988.
                  
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Mayor be and is hereby 
authorized
       to execute and submit an application to the U.S. Department of
       Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for an Emergency Shelter 
Grant
       in the amount of $55,000.00 to provide for the operation and
       maintenance of shelters as authorized by the Stewart B. McKinney
       Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 and the amendments thereto of
       1988.
